How To Clean a Sassy Ritual Candle

How To Clean a Sassy Ritual Candle

Once you’ve enjoyed your candle, it reaches the bottom of the container, and the wick no longer lights. Candle wax can be a pain to remove from jars, but it doesn’t have to be. With a few simple tools and techniques, you can easily clean out your candle jars and reuse them creatively.

Method 1: Boiling Water

This is the most common method for removing wax from candle jars. It’s simple and effective and doesn’t require special tools.

  1. Fill a pot with enough water to cover the bottom of the jar.
  2. Place the jar in the pot and bring the water to a boil.
  3. Let the jar boil for 10-15 minutes or until the wax has melted and floated to the top.
  4. Remove the jar from the pot and let it cool.
  5. Use a spoon or butter knife to scrape the wax and wick holder out of the jar.
  6. Wash the jar with soap and water.

Method 2: Freezer

This method is a bit more time-consuming, but it’s also gentler on the jar.

  1. Place the jar in the freezer overnight.
  2. In the morning, the wax will have solidified and shrunk.
  3. Use a spoon or butter knife to scrape the wax out of the jar.
  4. Wash the jar with soap and water.

In the event that you’ve dropped your candle and want to salvage the wax, this is the ideal method to implement. Repurpose the wax in a wax melter or potentially drop it into an empty candle vessel of the same size.

Method 3: Wax Melt Warmer

This method is quick and easy but requires a wax melt warmer or candle lamp. If you don’t have a wax melt warmer, use the oven at the lowest temperature setting for 15-45 mins until all the wax is melted.

  1. Turn on the wax melter.
  2. Place the candle on the wax warmer.
  3. The heat will melt the wax, allowing it to drip from the jar.
  4. Use paper towels to wipe any remaining wax from the jar.
  5. Wash the jar with soap and water.

No matter what method you choose to implement, do yourself a favor and don’t pour the melted wax down the sink drain. That’ll be a quick way to need a plumber! Use a healthy amount of paper towels and rubbing alcohol to get jars squeaky clean. Then, you can reuse the jar for bathroom storage or crafts.
